Smooth & rich coffee beans
Sri Lankan beans are known for being exceptionally smooth, rich, and naturally sweet. Because much of the coffee is grown in diverse "forest garden" environments alongside spices and fruit trees, the beans often absorb subtle aromatic nuances.
More deep and complex flavours
The geography of Sri Lanka provides a unique environment that differentiates its beans from those of neighbouring India or Southeast Asia. The cool mountain air slows the ripening of the coffee cherry, allowing sugars and complex acids to develop more deeply.
Small farmers, not industrial giants
Approximately 80% of Sri Lankan coffee is produced by smallholder farmers rather than giant industrial estates. Coffee is often grown alongside tea, pepper, cloves, and cinnamon. This polyculture system acts as a natural shade canopy, which prevents soil erosion and reduces the need for chemical fertilizers.
